Kidist Mariam Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido Church

Kidist Mariam (St. Mary's) Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido Church has been meeting in Decatur, Georgia since 1996; the church is located less than seven miles from downtown Atlanta.
Priest, deacons, and faithful during a June 2004 liturgy. A colorful, ornately embroidered parasol is brought out at important points during the service, such as the reading of the Gospel.
Detailed plans are underway to build a cathedral and community center to minister to the thousands of Ethiopians living in the Atlanta area.
Plans for the new buildings are on display near the front of the church.
