The 18-seat Interfaith Center at Suffolk University opened in 1999 as the first dedicated religious space in the history of the university. The first resident halls, opened in 1996, spurred an era of increased student life programming, of which the Interfaith Center, and its new chaplain, Amy Fisher, were a part. Fisher was hired after the physical space had been built, but she decorated the space using her own creativity and religious iconography given to her or the center by students.
